About the Avendt Group
The Avendt Group represents a unique team of environmental engineers, scientists and financial experts specializing in the responsible management of environmental liabilities for both private and public multinational industrial and commercial clients. Originally founded in 1986 with offices in Maryland and Michigan, the Avendt Group has optimized the concept of providing specialized senior consulting personnel on a project basis to supplement the capabilities of corporate staff to manage environmental permitting and compliance issues, due diligence, consent order obligations, site remediation and facility closure and redevelopment. Operating throughout the world, the Avendt Group has successfully completed numerous complex environmental assignments using its staff of recognized experts managing local consultants, as required, to minimize project costs and assure regulatory acceptance.
This demonstrated expertise resulted in the Avendt Group being acquired in late 1988 and becoming a member of The Marmon Group of companies, which had combined annual revenues of $5.6 billion and was controlled by the Pritzker family of Chicago. As such, the Avendt Group remained an autonomous company with expanded offices in Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, California, North Carolina and New Jersey. From these offices, the Avendt Group provided environmental consulting services to not only The Marmon Group of over 120 diverse manufacturing and service companies but other large multinational clients at locations across North America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. During this time, Dr. Raymond Avendt, P.E., President and founder of the Avendt Group was promoted to corporate VP Environmental Activities of The Marmon Group, Inc.
In late 2001, the Avendt Group was reorganized by the founder as an independent environmental consulting firm and operates with personnel in Illinois, Michigan and Maryland. The firm continues to provide environmental management services to The Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. company and a select group of corporate industrial clients, law firms, financial institutions and international investors.
It is the intent of the management of the Avendt Group to remain a small privately held highly qualified environmental management consulting firm
with unique personnel and client demands.
